Patrick O’Connell
Patrick O’Connell was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he was nurtured by loving and dedicated parents. In his family, education and hard work were paramount, and college was considered a necessity. While his father envisioned a future for his sons in the financial sector, Patrick, after earning a Marketing degree, yearned for something different.
From a young age, Patrick spent countless hours with his beloved grandfather, Aloysius, tinkering away in his basement workshop. It was here that Patrick's passion for construction took root. Upon graduating, Patrick joined a construction crew in Southern New Jersey, marking the beginning of a 30-year career in the construction industry.
Patrick quickly rose to a supervisory role with a custom home builder, gaining valuable experience and knowledge. He found immense satisfaction in seeing the finished products of his hard work and dedication. This passion drove him to explore further opportunities in Project Management.
In 1997, after meeting his wife Lauri, Patrick transitioned to Project Management in New York City. Over the next 15 years, he managed numerous rewarding projects, including luxury apartments and tenant improvements for leading financial institutions. Notably, he dedicated five years to the monumental Brox County Hall of Justice project in the Bronx. While many of these endeavors garnered architectural accolades, Patrick found his greatest satisfaction in being an integral part of them
In 2009, Patrick and his growing family, now including three children, relocated to California in search of a new opportunities. He was hired as a Project Manager for a commercial development located in the heart of the Beverly Hills' Wilshire corridor, which included 9,600 sq. ft of retail space and 20,600 sq. ft of office space. The LA project goes on to win accolades for its modern elegance and boats a LEED Gold certification from US Green Building Code Council, in which Patrick is a certified LEED AP.
Settling in Rossmoor, CA, Patrick became an active participant in the architectural evolution of the Rossmoor and Seal Beach neighborhoods. Eventually, Patrick is approached by a neighbor who desires to build a new home in Rossmoor. He agrees to help and successfully completes the project in under 10 months. This becomes the spark that ignites the desire to be the custom home builder that he is today. His involvement in a neighbor's custom home project ignited his desire to become a custom home builder, leading to the creation of DLC Builders.
DLC Builders is formed but not without strong consideration towards what the firm will represent and what its core values are. The pillars upon which the business stands are, Honesty, Integrity, and Hard Work. Patrick assigns the initials of his 3 children to form the company name and that serves to remind him of those values daily.
Today, DLC has built an esteemed portfolio of Luxury Custom Home Builds and Reconstruction projects in the neighborhoods they serve. They have a 10-year track record of successful home building and are proud to enjoy long standing friendships with their many clients.
